BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS-Probe underway into drug seizure on Anegada

TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands, CMC- The police in this British Overseas territory are actively investigating a recent drug seizure on the island of Anegada.

According to police reports, on August 19, they seized a Cessna aircraft and over 800 kilograms of cocaine on the island.

Over the past week, several persons of interest have been arrested and interviewed and have since been released.

The police have also executed search warrants on several properties on the island.

Acting Commissioner of Police, St. Clair Amory, commended all officers involved in the seizures and thanked members of the public who have assisted and are willing to assist in the ongoing investigation.

Anegada is the northernmost of the island chain and is the second largest of all the islands, but it is also the most sparsely populated.
