PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, CMC – Haiti’s rising beach volleyball stars have announced their arrival on the international stage in spectacular fashion. The duo of Luckenly Joseph and Philippe Julien captured the bronze medal at the CAZOVA U-18 Caribbean Championship in Trinidad & Tobago.
In their first-ever international tournament, the Haitian pair delivered a commanding performance in the third-place match, sweeping Martinique in two straight sets (21-18, 21-19).
From the first serve, Joseph and Julien controlled the tempo of the game, sealing a decisive victory and claiming their spot on the podium.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for Haitian volleyball. Team coach and National Beach Volleyball Program Coordinator, Pedro Cedeme, was effusive in his praise.
“This is a source of immense pride for our nation,” Cedeme stated. Luckenly and Philippe displayed incredible maturity and unwavering commitment. This medal validates the Federation’s dedicated efforts to build a structured beach volleyball program in Haiti.
This success is no accident. It is the first fruit of the Haitian Volleyball Federation’s (FHVB) renewed and intensive focus on beach volleyball.
Over the coming months, the Federation has ambitious plans to expand on this momentum, including nationwide scouting sessions, technical training for athletes and coaches, and the organisation of local championships to foster a new generation of talent.
The ultimate goal is to establish a deep-rooted beach volleyball culture in Haiti and position the country as a consistent competitive force in the region.
The FHVB also extended its warm thanks to the Haitian Olympic Committee (COH) for its crucial financial support, which transformed this incredible adventure for its young athletes into a reality marked by medals.
