WINNIPEG, Manitoba, CMC – Caribbean jockeys, led by doubles from Barbadian Antonio Whitehall and Jamaican Chavion Chow, swept all but one of the races on Tuesday’s race card at Assiniboia Downs in Canada.

Whitehall logged his 36th win for the season and extended his lead in the jockeys’ standings, while Chow carried his tally to 21 and moved into fourth, one more than Prayven Badrie of Trinidad & Tobago.

Renaldo Cumberbatch, another Barbadian jockey, and Ronald Ali, another T&T rider, also collected wins on the seven-race card at the main racing facility in this central Canadian city.

Chow opened the day’s activities with a comfortable five-length win on the 6-5 favorite Lady Cop in the CAN $20 000 allowance first race over 1 500 meters on the dirt course.

Chow put Lady Cop to force the pace on the outside and dueled for the lead mid to late into the final turn before he got the three-year-old, dark bay filly to open up in the stretch and draw away to finish in a time of one minute, 33.42 seconds.

Cumberbatch followed up with his 16th win of the season when he drove the 7-2 chance Tiz Hoppin in the CAN $16 500 allowance optional, claiming the second race over 1 400 meters on the dirt.

Tiz Hoppin was put into a stalking position and made to force the pace from the outside before Cumberbatch got the seven-year-old bay mare to take over in the stretch and draw away for 1 min, 27.61 secs.

Whitehall came to the fore when he steered the 6-5 favorite Dazzling Gold to a 1-1/2 lengths win in the CAN $10 100, claiming the third race over one mile on the dirt.

Dazzling Gold stalked the dueling front-runners before the six-year-old, dark bay mare challenged the duel winner, took a short lead in the stretch, and drew off in the final 100 meters to clock 1:43.85.

Ali got into the frame for his 18th win of the season when he guided the 9-1 chance Will Knows to a narrow victory in the CAN $10 400 claiming his fourth race over 1 100 meters on the dirt.

Will Knows forced the pace and advanced on the outside into the turn before the eight-year-old, dark bay gelding rallied on the outside and got up in the final stride to win by a neck in a time of 1:06.16.

Whitehall returned to land a half-length win astride the 3-1 bet Behavin Myself in the CAN $14 800 claiming fifth race over one mile on the dirt.

Behavin Myself opened up early and engaged in a duel into the final turn, but the five-year-old grey gelding dug in through the stretch and held off Railsplitter, under Cumberbatch, to clock 1:40.27.

Chow then got his second win when he pushed the 6-5 favorite Blazing Bo to a two-length victory in the CAN $18 000, claiming his sixth race over six furlongs on the dirt.

Blazing Bo raced between horses early, but Chow put the three-year-old bay gelding into a stalking posture to force the pace on the outside into the turn before rallying and taking over in mid-stretch to finish in 1:12.37.
