BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, With senior injured players still needing more time to recover, the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Selection Panel on Friday named an unchanged 14-member squad for the remaining three T20 Internationals against England Women.

Lead selector Ann Browne-John said the panel decided to stick with the team that played in the first two T20Is, which the Caribbean women lost, for the December 17, 18, and 22 matches here at Kensington Oval.

“We were hopeful that some of the injured players would have been available for selection, but we have been advised that they need more time to recover, keeping in mind that the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in February 2023 remains a focal point,” she said.

Veteran, seamer Shakera Selman, was ruled out of the first two T20Is, and batsman Chedean Nation is also missing the series due to injuries sustained in the CG United ODI series, which England Women won with a clean sweep. U19 Rising Star players Djenaba Joseph and Trishan Holder were called up as replacements.

Browne-John said the team that played the first two matches “has shown some improvement, and we believe that they have the ability to compete in the remaining matches.”

West Indies Women were down by eight wickets in the opening game of the five-match series at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Sunday night before losing by 16 runs in the second match on Wednesday at Kensington Oval.

SQUAD – Hayley Matthews (captain), Shemaine Campbelle (vice-captain), Aaliyah Alleyne, Afy Fletcher, Cherry Ann Fraser, Shabika Gajnabi, Sheneta Grimmond, Chinelle Henry, Trishan Holder, Djenaba Joseph, Kycia Knight, Karishma Ramharack, Kasia Schultz, Rashada Williams.
