BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, CMC – The West Indies women’s team has been fined 10 per cent of their match fee for bowling two overs short of the required rate during the first Women’s ODI against Australia on Friday at Warner Park Cricket Ground.
Reon King of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees handed down the sanction after determining that the home side had fallen two overs behind when time allowances were taken into account.
Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for each over their team fails to bowl within the allotted time.
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, meaning no formal hearing was required.
The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Candace La Borde, third umpire Jacquline Williams, and fourth umpire Maria Abbott.
