USA’s Aaron Jones scored an even 50 against Canada

ROTTERDAM, CMC — An even half-century from Barbadian Aaron Jones helped the U.S.A. to secure a 50-run victory over Canada in the 23rd match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 on Monday.

After being put into bat, the U.S.A. posted a competitive total of 275/8 in their allotted 50 overs. Opener Smit Patel anchored the innings with a well-paced 70 off 84 balls, including 11 boundaries. He was well-supported by Jones, who scored 50 off 53 balls, with three fours and a six. Milind Kumar chipped in with an aggressive 47 off just 30 balls. Opener Steven Taylor made 46.

Canada’s Saad Bin Zafar was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets for 30 runs in his ten overs. In response, Canada faltered early in their chase, losing four wickets with only 44 runs on the board. Pargat Singh attempted to revive the innings with a fighting 72 off 80 balls, supported by Shreyas Movva, who added 68 off 95. Barbadian Nicholas Kirton could only contribute nine runs as Canada was bowled out for 225 in 47 overs.

Shadley van Schalkwyk was the pick of the bowlers for the U.S.A., claiming four wickets for 20 runs in his eight overs. Harmeet Singh and Jasdeep Singh chipped in and took two wickets each.
