GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC—Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in mid-November, informed sources confirmed on Monday.

They told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) that Modi will be attending the CARICOM-India in Georgetown during his official visit to the CARICOM country.

While no exact date has been given, Modi is expected to be in Guyana for two days. His visit coincides with his travel to Brazil, where he will attend the G20 Summit from November 18-19.

In April last year, foreign ministers from India and CARICOM met with CARICOM Secretary General Dr. Carla Barnett, who said then that she hoped the meeting would “advance the friendly relationship forged between CARICOM and India over more than 25 years ago.”

The sources told CMC that Guyana will host the second regional symposium on crime and violence following the India-CARICOM summit.
