COUVA, Trinidad and Tobago, CMC – Led by a brace from Jodi Brown, Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz soundly whipped Trinidad & Tobago 4-1 in an international friendly match here earlier this week.
Jamaica took control of the contest from the opening whistle and needed just four minutes to open their account after Olufolasade Adamolekun threaded a ball to Brown, who then hit a thumping shot past T&T’s goalkeeper Nicolette Craig after being given too much space.
T&T fought back to level the score just nine minutes later, with the little-known Nikita Gosine picking up a loose ball at the top of the box, feinting a shot on her right foot, before quickly switching to her left foot and curling the ball nicely into the top right-hand corner of goalkeeper Sydney Schneider’s goal to make it 1-1.
The two sides went into the halftime break level, but Jamaica completely dominated upon resumption, scoring three unanswered goals.
Tiffany Cameron’s pass intended for Kayla McKenna found its way into the path of Natasha Thomas, who blasted home from close range to make it 2-1 in the 52nd minute.
The Reggae Girlz extended their lead in the 67th minute when Tiana Harris’ header from a corner found the back of the net, and Brown sealed the deal three minutes from time when she pounced on a loose ball in the box to complete a brace.
