GRENADA-POLITICS-Cuban President to visit Grenada

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel is to pay a two-day official visit to Grenada from Wednesday, according to an official statement issued here.

It said that Díaz-Canel, who is in Barbados on a state visit as well as attending the eighth Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Suba summit, will be accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes several Ministers covering foreign affairs, health, science & technology, foreign investment, and economic collaboration.

The statement quoted Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell as welcoming the “visit that will serve to strengthen the longstanding relationship between the Republic of Cuba and Grenada and provide an opportunity to explore new areas of cooperation.”

The statement said that among the activities for the two-day visit will be “bilateral and other strategic meetings, interactions with Cuban nationals resident in Grenada, and a visit to the Cuban Monument.”

This year marks 43 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations.

President Diaz-Canel has also visited St. Vincent and the Grenadines during his visit to the region.
