HAMILTON, Bermuda, Nov 16, Bermuda police have seized almost nine million US dollars in illegal drugs since March, with the latest seizure taking place on Monday with six people being arrested and US$1.3 million in drugs seized.
Police said Wednesday that five men and one woman had been detained following the operation at the Smith’s parish home, with residents noting that there had been a heavy police presence in the area.
The police said that the latest seizure meant that the estimated value of drugs seized or intercepted by law enforcement agencies this year is US$8.8 million.
The authorities said that the figure is expected to increase as a number of other operations have been announced by the Bermuda Police Service.
